I know what goes bump in the night
And it's a bat. Last night there were some escapades at my house. I was watching The Incredibles, which I highly recommend by the way, and something caught my attetion from the stairs to the basement. The door was open just a crack and I saw something moving so I went to inspect. Turns out it was a bat flying about. I yelled like a school girl and asked nick to come down quickly. He did but he saw no bat.
So we made sure all points of exit were closed and went about our normal business. Later I headed down to my room and when I was two steps into the basement he began to fly about again, causing me to dive up the steps, onto the kitchen floor. This produced a sharp pain in my knee that I hit on the way up and caused me to both yelp and laugh at myself because, logically, the bat is small. But it can fly which means it's not to be trusted.
Once I'd regained my composure and full use of my knee I went back down with a towel and a flashlight. I spotted my new nemisis on some shelves. I attempted to trap him with said towel but the junk he was resting on prevented this. He escaped and flew to the steps. I then threw the towel on top of him and he was stuck. I bundled him up in the towel and tossed the it into the back yard. A few minutes later I retrieved the towel to find he was still under it. I felt bad, knowing he would freeze, to which nick said "well stomp him then". This seemed more harse so I just said, "well buddy, good luck" and let nature run it's course.
So, final score: Bat 3, JoeBuck 1. He gets points for scaring me twice and hurting my knee. I get a point for ultimate triumph.
