Start the weekend off on the right foot
I can't fully verbalize why I like this comic so much, I think because it's rampant with jokes that only make sense to those that are in the "know" in regards to certain things, primarily apple in nature.
Here is the comic of which I speak. Revel in it's awesomeness* and go forth into the great uknown that is the weekend.

No sleep means rough day for joe but hijinks for others
Well, today was rough. I'm putting on a big push at work for reasons mostly beyond my control, such is life. On the plus side I've had some time to kill while I was babysiting builds so I have some fun links to share:
- the guys at Penny Arcade found something intersting with a Mac Book Pro running World of Warcraft 2x better when booted into windows than when running OS X. Astute readers pointed them to articles which contend that apple is underclocking GPU's. A company underclocking a chip isn't that noteworthy really but I find it interesting that Apple would do this. Well, then again they don't exactly have room to spare and they are big on design so... Plus if it came to either underclocking GPU's or having toasted user legs/systems meltdown, underclocking is the way to go.
- This isn't a link but I wanted to post the "joe get's a treat" song. This was an original composition I came up with today around 6pm or so. Here it is:
Joe's workin' late....and he sees a candy dish....and the doors open.....no one around.... that means joe gets a treat
While this content isn't ground breaking I can assure you that the rythem and vocal inflections that I put with the words make it a tune worthy of at least a courtesy chortle. - I was going to put a link up to the jetblue destination map because there was a fun easter egg that Josh showed me where you could view a hillarious family guy clip but I think someone "fixed" it since yesterday. that's the problem with things being good, they get popular and then everyone knows about them :/ that reminds me of a few shirts that get a chuckle out of me
Well, that's it for tonight. I'm off to OC night at brooke's. Tonight is the triumphant return of Anna and I, for one, am quite excited.

Update on the topic for which I have no professional opinion
The macworld link about a certain company having a large tax bill that it didn't know about sheds some new light on it. Turns out that the issue has to do with some intellectual property(IP) that was transferred to Irish subsidaries.
I had a rant that was posted briefly and was removed, because I like to work, that had to do with wondering how numbers of that magnitude could be debatable but bring IP into the picture and I see how the issue gets gray( or grey for those on the other side of the pond )fast.
Glad I don't work for accounting/legal....

News on which I have no official opinion

Man....I'm boring....
It was pointed out to me by someone that I've been very lax, as of late, with the blog. I'm going to cop out and say that it's due to work, which is pretty valid, but, then again, it takes all of ~5 minutes to post something :/ Dunno. Here's a few random things that make me smile/happy/wonder/etc. :
- Dave's paint in his house is awesome, make a point to stand in awe of it next time you're there.
- What makes a town a "town" ( as opposed to a shire, hamlet, unincorporated area, etc. )? I had thought it was a postal office, brooke contends it's a police and fire department ( but I know of a "town" that has no police, they're served by the county ). Please shed some light on this in the comments if you have knowledge on it. My currenty working theory is that to become a town merely consists of filing paperwork with the .gov, but that towns are required to have a postoffice? Not sure, discuss among yourselves.
- Josh found a link to a thingy that says the #1 job in the US is being a software engineer is the best job. These are probably the same people that, if asked to pick the superhero they would be, would pick Superman :/
And here are two qoutes that make me happy for no explicable reason, feel free to disseminate as you see fit:
- What? She killed them with
mathematics, what else could it have
been.
-Jayne in the episode "Objects in Space"
- "My owns plans are made. While I can, I sail east in the Dawn Treader. When she fails me, I paddle east in my coracle. When she sinks, I shall swim east with my four paws. And when I can swim no longer, if I have not reached Aslan’s country, or shot over the edge of the world in some vast cataract, I shall sink with my nose to the sunrise and Peepiceek will be head of the talking mice in Narnia.” -Reepicheep, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Well, "the man" is starting to uncase the "I mean business" whip so I best get back to work. I'm working on Easter Sunday, can we talk about how many shades of wrong that is?

Spammers defeated by...kittens...
they're cute, cuddly and smarter than computers these days. The article comes via ars and it talks about how some enterprising individuals are using pictures of kittens to stop the spambot programs cold. Bonus points for a low tech solution to a high tech pain in the butt.
I'd recommend that everyone read this as I found it to be one of those "huh....that's a really good idea, wonder why it took so long to think of" kinda moments, completely removed from the technical merits, which there isn't much of since it's uber-low tech.

Freaking Seth....
If you watched the OC tonight, you know what I'm getting at.
If not, you think I'm a moron but, really, you should have figured that out by now so I'm kinda disappointed in you.
Anywho, I was reading the reg and I saw an article that I know something about. My old mentor is working on part of this project and it's some cool tech, I wish that group well.
We bought this stuff from a small shop in Belgium and the guy that was one of the alpha nerds there lived in the next country over and would just sleep at work for the week and go home on the weekend. That's...pretty much what I'm doing but I don't feel very European...hmmm....
