This is what it's like when nerds collide

So, I read this article that I found linked off of /. that talks about fight clubs in silicon valley. I get the idea behind them, we all saw the movie, find. My beef with this article is two fold, 1) look at what the guys are wearing in the picture with the article. If you are fighting to feel manly, don't dress like your mother put the closes out for you on your bed while you took a shower with your rubber ducky. 2) the cheap shot towards the end of the article that says this is happening because these men carry repressed anger from video games and movies that they've had since they were kids.
(Joe steps up on his soapbox) They like to beat on people for whatever reason, keep video games out of this.(soapboxing over)

Wow, those guys are nuts. Using sticks and other objects seems a little extreme to me. Boxing is fun (even the bare-knuckle kind) but frying pans is where I draw the line.

I said the same thing when I read that. Frying pans = not even remotely safe. Use airsoft/paintball guns, use those silly stagecraft swords, heck, use a tennis racket if you feel so inclined, but things like frying pans and golf clubs seems like you're crossing a line in my book.

"Real-life fight clubs are the male version of the girls who cut themselves."

I always sort of thought that the male version of girls who themselves, were, uh, boys who cut themselves...

The cutting thing I always thought was about having control over something. Fighting another person seems like the exact opposite of control.
