Someone confused science with 70's cartoons
Todays installment of The day in pictures from the BCC has a funny picture of "a delegation from the Malaysian ministry of science and technology". I think the head of their department is either Johnny Quest or Buck Rogers.

Jackson to film "The Lovely Bones"
I was reading this article on the BBC about Peter Jackson doing the producing for a remake of a move called "The Dam Busters" which looks cool and at the very end it says that Jackson's next roll as director will be the film adaptation of The Lovely Bones, which I've heard great things about.
Just though I'd mention this as I know at least brooke will likely be excited.

Bonus points for this guy
So, I was reading the release notes for the 1.12 patch for World of Warcraft and at the end, in the mac section there was one entry.
Mac
* Added support for controlling iTunes from within World of Warcraft. You can bind a set of keys for play/pause, next track, back track and volume up and down.
I think that's awesome, you can now have WoW in full screen and fiddle with the music you're getting from iTunes. It was probably a real minor code change but I appreciate that someone went out of their way to add something for Mac users. Bonus points for this guy.

Best, or worst, article ending ever
So two things about this story. One is the timing. Last week there was a bit about some Mexican fisherman that drifted across the pacific, surviving on raw seagulls and the like for 9 months.
That's pretty impressive in my book.
What does the US counter with? We get this article about a US man trapped in chocolate for 2 hours. Way to have the fortitude to survive an ankle chaffing champ.
Secondly, read the last sentance. Best article ending ever.

Double bonus points
to whomever sent me the Samual L Jackson pre-recorded thingy saying I needed to go see snakes on a plane. It showed up in my caller id as myself, that pretty much made my day. It even said I needed to leave my boring, normal job working with computers to go see it on opening day.
You know what Sam, I just might do that.

You know you've gone too far when...
your crappy movie that is banking entirely on phonetical similairities to a well established yet unreleased film is so bad that imdb says you don't exist. Here's the story:
I'm at blockbuster with Laura, picking up Everything is Illuminated, and I see this abomination. I'd just ( 15 minutes before ) seen the previous night's Daily Show where Stewart interviews the one and only Samuel L. so this seems doubly heretical. In my trying to find a link to it, to prove it existed and I didn't just make it up in my head, I realized that imdb doesn't even acknowledge this travesty.
When imdb admits to this, this and this but gives you the cold shoulder, that's when you know you've crossed some line...most lilely multiple striped lines, which increases your karmic fine accordingly.
UPDATE: third crappy movie changed per Josh's input and previously stated opinions of Katie and Travis ( it was blue crush originally ).
UPDATE 2: There's now an imdb entry, or the skeleton of one, that can be seen here.

Supporting the home team
I just ordered up a PA poster as part of my "don't look like you work in a white box" movement, which is a sub-movement of "try to be the young punk that all the tape guys make you out to be" agenda.
I also picked up a hard cover version of the first PA book. (Dave, don't mention that I already own the soft-cover, this one is signed and I need the extra nerd points ).
That is all, I'm just excited and felt like putting up a post.
Oh, and I fixed ( well kinda) a knob on my shower. I now have 2 drastically different knobs ( one is a silver/brass colored lever and one is a clear plastic knob ). Four trips to the hardward store, $19 in tools and $9 in parts later and I can use my shower without employing vice grips.
There's another handle coming in this week so I'll be rolling 2 round knobs in a bit. Actually....I might just roll mis-matched for a while though, I feel it gives my bathroom the right vibe for my house, something like "I'm a little bit of a screw-up, but in a non-offensive and maybe even slightly endearing kind of way".

Putting the "long" in long arm of the law
I saw this on the BBC and did a double take, they're holding some guy in Thailand for the JonBenet killing. I guess they picked him up for some other charges and he started confessing and gave details not made public. This just seems.....weird. Like it was too convienant or...I dunno.....can't explain it. Maybe he wants to be held in a US prison over a Thai one, I'm guessing I would but here's hoping I never have to make that call ( unless being awesome is a disease and a crime ).

Almost as bad as a laptop exploding in your lap is one exploding next to you ammunition. I thought you'd appreciate this Josh.

This just in...
The lady being interviewed on Colbert just called him a douche.
Can't find her name, but she was funny.
That is all.

a few fun monday morning links
So, I was looking for news of the impending Steve-note and I saw a Dwight Shrute bobble head that I know Mike(Olofson) would love. I also saw a dress Steve flash thingy. I'm a little disturbed at his under garments of choice but hey, if that's how the Steve rolls, that's how the Steve rolls.
