the Digg giveth

guessing most of you will have seen this on Digg but there's an accoustic cover of hey yeah by outkast on youtube that's laid over the music video and I actually dug it. Bonus points of the random dude in his garage with a sweet beard rocking out hard.

Willie Nelson doesn't mess around

I caught this on the BBC, Willie Nelson's tour bus, with him on board, is stopped an a a pound and a half of weed is found, as well as "magic mushrooms".
A pound and a half? I've heard of people developing a tolerance but good night that's a lot of drugs. Good thing they weren't in NY or that would probably be a much bigger penalty.

Possibly free art

I'm a fan of Sam Brown's work, I even went so far as to purchase one of his drawings which is hung at my home.
Anywho, the point of this is to bring this bit of news to the attention of anyone that is interested. It looks like if you mail Sam a SASE and a title, he'll try to draw you something. I'm guessing this will be limited by the volume involved but it sure would be neat to get original art and a few bucks is a good price to me.
He needs to get them by Sept. 30th. I'm hoping to get one out this week, gotta think up a title. Oh, for those of you not familiar with explodingdog.com, the way it works is people email Sam phrases and he draws pictures based on this interpretation of those phrases. Check out the first link and click on a few if you're trying to get a feel for how he works.
So far I'm thinking "or so you'd think...", any suggestions for a title?

Poetic Justice

Saw an article on the BBC about a scam going on in Nigeria. They have a serious problem with corruption and laws have been passed that if a person is found guilty of corruption they cannot stand in the next election. Seems reasonble to me but it sounds like this is a big move for this country. Well, some enterprising scammers took this as an opportunity and started offering to sell "corruption free" certificates to governemnt officials. The idea of buying something that says you aren't corrupt makes me laugh and think, "how did you not see this coming?". Good stuff.

Joe bought a cd

which isn't normally a big deal, it probably still isn't but I'm at work at...11:07pm...and watching stuff happen so I'm blogging about it. I've wanted to buy a cd for a while, gotta help the consumer index and what not, but nothing has really stuck out. I've almost picked up the latest flaming lips cd twice, for lack of better options, but held off.
Well, I finally found one I wanted enough to purchase, and the winner is "Declare a new state" by the Submarines itms link amazon link
In my mind it's like mates of state listened to a lot of postal service and a little death cab, okay maybe they just have a crush on Ben Gibbard but who doesn't, and then wrote a cd. I was able to get it for $7 and change, shipped, from Amazon marketplace. I would've dropped the $14 best buy was asking to get it tomorrow but none of the stores in my area deemed it fit to carry. They'll soon rue that decision when all 3 of my friends that listen to my opinion on music pick this up and we flood the two floors of our place of employment with it's sounds. Rue I say.....okay, I've just been meaning to use rue and this is my first opportunity....
RUE ( running away sounds )

Bush admits secret prisons

...rest of works says,"yeah, no crap". Story here.
I like that we had the big hub-bub about flights transporting prisoners to these prisons months ago but we just now admit they exist.
Where were those flights going, the Belarus Hilton?
I also liked that W denied the US used torture. Is this the same level of denial with which these prisons did not exist last month?
I'm a little bonus cynical today but stuff like this just makes me shake my head a little more.
