This can only end poorly
BBC has a link about Bush signing some policy that calls for the defense of space. Read it for yourself but this worries me.
I"m guessing it's in response to the public announcement that the Chinesse military have lazers that can blind our spy satellites. Booo for arms races. Guess it would be a good time to invest in [ Haliburton | lockheed | Northrup ].
In all reality I'm probably just being a reactionist but the idea of someone like Bush having a space cannon does not sit well with me ( I know they won't be up until after he leaves but who is to say we won't get another president like him again ? )

Ohmygoodnessohmygoodness
So, this is total "I'm 12 again and I want to be a knight/cowboy/wolverine/astronaut/neurosurgeon" ( I was an odd kid ) fan service but I just watched a hd trailer for the 300, 720 to be specific, and I have huge eyes and got really excited.
Sidenote: I was thinking today, if I had claws like wolverine, I'd totally get a job at like a quizno's because how cool would it be to go in for a sandwhich and there's some dude cutting your meat/cheese with blades that come out of this hands? Hygiene issues aside, that'd be pretty freaking cool.

Does this look like me?
Someone sent me a clip of this video, or another that this guy is in, and asked if it was me. I do have a yellow shirt, or used to, that looked a lot like this and I have the same 12" powerbook.
It's dark at first, skip ahead to about the :30 second mark and look at the guy then.
This showed up on the right bar when I was watching something else on youtube and thought I would post it to see what you all thought.
actual link.

Charlie and Kate, sitting in a tree....
I saw a link on digg about two Lost stars getting married and I had no idea who it was. Turns out it's Evangaline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan.
And here I was hoping it was Charley and Shannon ;)
I also find it slightly....well....either ironic or appropriate that they're getting married in Hawaii.

Old(er) school cartoons
This came up someone at lunch ( which means it popped into my head randomly and no one knew what I was talking about ) but here are the intro's to the MC Hammer cartoon and the pro stars cartoon starring Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky.
I remember watching these as a kid, for the like 6 episodes they had each :)

I...just....the mind reals....
So, I watched the season premeire of lost on Wednesday night with Jeremy, brooke, Josh, Aleisha and Sam and I saw this ad for Patty Wetterling. It had a bunch of qoutes about the recent Mark Foely scandal. If you don't know what it is, google his name and you'll find out quite quickly.
Here's my beef, this is a guy in a district race in FL, so no direct application to MN ( as in players from MN being involved ) so she's basically saying she's hard on child molesters? Seriously, that's your platform, that child molesting is bad? I...seriously? That warrants ad time during the season premeire of a really popular show ( wonder how much she spent to get the word out that she was anti-"people doing bad things to kids" )?
I thought that being "pro-education" and "pro-farming" was generic enough for MN but anti-hurting children? I should run on a platform of "not being an idiot" and "being nice to my mom". Next time there's an article about children not respecting their parents I'll come out as "pro-elderly" and if there's a rash of homeless people disappearing I'll launch my "Joebuck, he's anti-'stabbing the homeless and dumping their bodies in rural farmlands' campain". We'll run it during Monday Night Football. I'll be huge I tell you, HUGE.

Speaking of remakes
I saw a link to a story about a dark crystal remake that is in the works. It sounds like a lot of the same people from the 1982 original, except no Jim Henson of course, and it sounds like they're really trying to stay true to the original. When Henson did the original Dark Crystal, he had a vision he was not able to realized due to technological limitations that are no longer barriers so these guys are really looking to fulfill his vision. I hope this is just amazing.
I like that they mention this along side "the last starfighter" and "tron". I own the former, still need to pick up the latter. I think that thinkgeek should have nerd starter packs with like tron, hackers, pirates of silicon valley and linux penguin sticker in them or something to that effect. They'd be big sellers, trust me.

I don't know about this one...
I read that they're making a revenge of the nerds remake. The cast that's been named so far is okay, not amazing, and McG is doing it. While I must confess to liking the OC, I'm afraid his interpretation of this classic will be heavy handed and akin to an MTV movie. Here's hoping it's not the case or this cult classic title will see it's progeny hailed as a mass market flop.
