Drivin' music
So, it looks like a few of my cohorts and I will be heading to Rockford, IL to see Ryan and Melissa. In honor of this momentous occasion, I'm wondering what everyone's favorite driving or travel related music is.
I'll lead off with a few of my own(all links of iTMS links):
Convoy by C.W. McCall
East bound and down by Jerry Reed
Wolf Creek Pass by C.W. McCall ( what can I say, brother writes a good traveling song)
Six days on the road by Sawyer Brown (this one is for my mom)
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show by Neil Diamond
The Highwayman by The Highwayman
I'm realizing I'm totally country heavy so if you can add some songs of the non-country variety, that'd be much appreciated.

You just listed Neil Diamond. ROCK ON! There's nothing like THE diamond.

Since you already posted a little Cash (highwayman) here is another great Cash traveling tune. One Piece at a Time is about working at a Cadillac factory and stealing car parts from the factory in his big lunch box. http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=874295&s=143441&i=1369268

i usually choose bright eyes when i'm driving, but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. :)
joe, your list scares me.

Do you mean music to listen to while driving, music with lyrics about driving, or both? If the former, I generally just go for the same stuff as I listen to any other time, although the more complex stuff is less interesting due to the higher ambient noise. If the latter I can't really help, as I tend to not pay any attention to lyrics in most things.

i realized that i should have said something corporate or harry bosch as those two things make me think of driving with you, joe. :) (or sleeping, since i always tend to do that while you drive...)

For night driving I usually crank up Norah Jones or Moby. I can listen to Regina Spektor anywhere, so that works too.
For day cruising I usually try to find something a little more rocky, but I cannot think of any examples now. :P I find that creating my own mixes of more energetic songs makes better driving music than whole albums.
