Catch the wave, ride the tubes
So, two random thoughts brought to you from my subconscious via youtube.
- Is it just me or does the lead singer of the plain white T's look like Kevin Rose? Every time I hear "Hey there Delilah" I picture Kevin singing it with Alex Albrecht, his diggnation cohost, backing him up on the violin. I find that image a little disturbing.
- What the crap is this? I mean, I'm all for the shat getting in music videos and I want to like anything that incorporates the mac boot noise on principle but that actual song? It hurts my brain. Apologies if it gets into anyones head.

Who loves Kevin Rose?
I signed up for pownce, which is the latest product from Kevin Rose of digg.com and revision3 fame. It's pretty much another IM client with file transfer and a few other bells and whistles. I guess it runs on adobe's cross platform runtime AIR so you'll need to install that I believe.
If anyone is interested let me know, I have some invites. I haven't fired it up yet. I find that talking to ones self is better left to the mind then fleshed out via IM. Less of a record when "they" come for you.

Disturbing tale from the MN
So, I actually saw this on Digg, but a 6 year old girl in MN was partially disemboweled by a pool drain. The story doesn't talk about what exactly happened until the end but here's the deal (if you're squeamish you might want to take a pass on this). If a kid sits on a drain ina pool, the pressure of the water being sucked out can reach several hundred psi. That pressure can, in small kids, essentially suck their guts out via the rectum.
Holy crap. This seems like a pretty freaking scary thing and the article says that it's happened a few times. I don't really know what to say other than "wow....really?"

freaking sweet
I just got out of my first viewing of Transformers and I really, really liked it. The stuff you expect is there as is a lot of funny, almost tongue in cheek humor (several catch phrases pop out, but not when you'd think). I highly, highly recommend it.
I believe the nerds are pleased, you're off the hook this time Bay.

I do not think it means what you think it means
That quote from The Princess Bride came to mind, but the word I was thinking of wasn't "inconceivable" but "justice". I find it sad that W doesn't now what this word means but yet knows some words too well. Words like "cronyism", "FUD" and "incompetence.
This is so maddening. It seems like we're being treated to a never ending cavalcade of buffoonery and thinly veiled assaults on our rights. From Cheney declaring himself to not be part of the administrative branch, to Wolfowitz paying his girlfriend more than Condi makes to Katrina to John Bolton (seriously, his posting to the UN is like putting the Nuge in charge of Peta) to any of the wars we're involved in (anyone notice how the news isn't saying much about how we seem to be losing ground in Afghanistan on top of our daily bungles in Iraq?) to the pseudo-Cold war run up with Russia to.... is it even worth continuing.
This tears it. The timing of this latest egregious act leaves me with no alternative. I'm starting the "Optimus in '08" campaign. Who's with me?

Something to laugh at
Random funny video I stumbled across. It's 3 minutes and you'll laugh, seems like a reasonable deal to me.

Great article on the Die Hard series
From digg, an article that covers the five truths of the Die Hard series. I laughed really hard at #1, especially the last few lines of the explanation. I'll forgo the usually quoting because it would be too much of a spoiler. Hit the link , scroll down and laugh. You'll thank me.
