That's how I want to roll
I read a story about a CMU professor that is dieing of cancer. The article is about his last lecture where he talked about his life, how he accomplished all his childhood goals and how he's living his last days. This guy seems like a standup fellow and I think he's a good example of how to live ones life well.
UPDATE: Here a link to the entire thing on google video.

What would Ryan Atwood do?
I guess Chino is a pretty rough neighborhood. A link hit digg about a cop in Chino shooting a vet for apparently doing what the cop told him to do (getting up off the ground).
The clip actually show the guy getting shot (not really graphic and it's dark but still, this is a dude getting shot) so know that going into it.
Also, this is an older clip ('06 I think) but still, seems pretty shocking. Here's a link to the digg comments with some link to more details on the incident.

To legit to quit...a startup?
So, I was reading some coverage of the techcrunch40 over at ars. It's a two day thing where startups do a song and dance to impress people. There was a $50k aware given to the winner, a finance oriented webapp.
The thing I thought was funny was the picture at the bottom, which is of a panel of people that oversaw the second, and final, day of the event. Notice who is on the far left. What does he have to do with web 2.0? Is he to the inter-tron what flavor flav was to bad reality dating shows?

Seriously?
WTF is this?
I mean, I like crappy sci-fi movies and I have a soft spot for dragons and what not but this is just too far down the "plot-less, no effort, cookie cutter, crap-fest" hole, even for me.
Even the name seems like they took the first thing an 8 year old came up with and went with it.
Poor form team, poor form.

Begrudgingly, I link this...
So, I know some people that watch the hills and the latest super news deals with that show so I figured I'd toss up the links.
Enjoy?

Another great nerd comic
For some reason I feel like I should dedicate this find to Nick. Hope you all laugh as hard as I did.

This is how I roll
I caught today's dilbert early. Gotta say I wish I'd thought of this.
But then again, they do say that the great minds steal.

I can't believe I'm saying this but...
I wish I was a skinny emo kid.
Then I could buy this shirt and my life would be complete.
I'd also give a lot to be able to wear this shirt which is also awesome.
I'd work equally as well if these shirts were threadless select shirts because those are printed on american apparel stock which is actually sized to fit guys with shoulders and what not. In fact, all the women's shirts are made with AA stuff. This is a vast conspiracy by threadless to keep clever shirts out of the hands of the short, stocky masses of males. Us Scandinavians need to be clothed also. Hear my cry oh internet, make shirts that fit me.

Hot news from the west coast
Brooke sent me a link to the Heroes season 2 preview. Of note is the song in the background and the singer. It seems like a lot of "indie" darlings are getting into commercials these days. I for one welcome this change.
